Teeling Single Grain is a unique bottling of non chill-filtered corn whiskey aged in Californian Cabernet Sauvignon barrels and bottled at 46% abv. With most grain whiskey destined for blends, the release will become the second commercially available single grain whiskey from Ireland, joining Cooley Distillery’s Greenore. In fact, Teeling Single Grain is a bottling of liquid originally intended for Greenore that was acquired by the TWC and matured in alternative barrels. The release is part of TWC’s strategy to offer more choice within the Irish whiskey category.
Jack Teeling, managing director of TWC, said: “It’s a little known fact that the majority of Irish whiskey sold is actually grain whiskey so we feel it is interesting to have expressions of single grain whiskey in its own right. “Our new Teeling Single Grain is representative of our aim to help drive the expansion of the Irish whiskey category through unique bottlings and expressions.”
