Pyynikin Recycled Citrus Gin

The Pyynikin Distilling Company from Tampere, Finland, has created with the Pyynikin Recycled Citrus Gin probably the only gin in the world that is distilled from 100% organic waste spices. 

The distillery's head distillery received a call from the local cocktail bar Tiima one day. The bartender told him that every week 60 kg of lemons and 30 kg of limes are pressed into juices and the rest is normally thrown into the organic waste. He asked if these leftovers could possibly be recycled. The head distiller liked the idea and decided to make a gin from 100% organic waste spices. So the remaining ingredients like juniper berries, coriander and fennel seeds, liquorice and angelica root, cinnamon, ginger and black bell pepper of Pyynikin Payday Craft Gin are re-distilled for Pyynikin Recycled Citrus Gin.

The result is a soft, fresh gin with a strong lemon taste. It has a light taste and is suitable for pure enjoyment as well as for Gin&Tonic and other cocktails. 

At the International Wine and Spirits Competition 2020, Pyynikin Recycled Citrus Gin was awarded a silver medal with 90 out of 100 points.
