Rum from Barbados
The island of Barbados belongs to the Lesser Antilles and is thus located on the eastern edge of the Carabbean. The sugar cane needed for the rum produced on Barbados is grown under excellent climatic conditions. In contrast to many other Caribbean islands, Barbados is not of volcanic origin, but consists mainly of limestone. In the distillery "Mount Gay" in Bridgetown rum is demonstrably produced since 1703. Taste this special rum, which matures between two and twelve years in oak barrels, depending on the variety. In addition to the Mount Gay Distilleries Limited, there are also the following more well-known rum producers in Barbados: West Indies Rum Refinery Limited, Hanschell Inniss Limted and R.L Seale & Company Limited.
