Panama is located in the tropical center of Central America. The history of Panamanian rum does not go back as far as other countries in the region. Rum has only been produced in Panama since 1936. After a short time, however, the production of rum became an important part of Panama's economy. In the meantime, certain regulations were issued for the production of rum. For example, a rum must be stored for at least 48 months and the label must indicate the average age. Most producers of rum in Panama are small family businesses. Today, rum from Panama has become firmly established among rum connoisseurs from all over the world.
