The Loch Lomond Inchmoan 12 Years is a heavily peated single malt from the Loch Lomond distillery. Three different distillation styles give this special whisky an expressive character. The traditional Swan-Pot Still produces an oily, sweet medicinal peat character which forms the basis. The unique Neck-Pot Still, which produces a low alcohol "newmake", adds smokiness. Finally, a high alcohol "Newmake" is obtained that captures the spicier peat aromas.
The Loch Lomond Inchmoan is matured for 12 years in a mixture of newly burnt American oak barrels and American refill bourbon oak barrels. This gives the single malt a soft, sweet vanilla background, which highlights the softer peaty style of Loch Lomond's unique distillation process.
On the nose, Loch Lomond Inchmoan 12 Years smells of mint, smoked wood, and a hint of peat. On the palate it is first spicy, with black pepper and cinnamon. Soon aromas of toffee develop, which balance the taste wonderfully. The finish is surprised with fruity notes.
Origin: Scotland / Alc. 46% / Vol. 70cl
